Internet connection required
A basic video editing package. It lacks the bells and whistles of other packages which is not a bad thing in my view. If you just want some basic editing features then this may well suit you.It, along with all Magix software, has a very considerable drawback. It does require an internet connection. Even though all of the work is done on your local machine you must register it with Magix and have an ongoing internet connection so that it can automatically log in once a month. If you lose your internet connection through no fault of your own - isp issues, broken router etc then the software will stop working if it cannot log in once a month.- even thougth you have paid for it. I find this sort of thing abhorrent and incredibly consumer unfriendly. You can also only use it on the machine you register it on - you can change to another machine, perhaps a laptop, but only once per month - again I find this very consumer unfriendly.

A basic video editing package
I wanted something that I could do basic editing with and ideally use it on a Windows tablet so I could do it while out and about. It fulfils the basic requirement however as the minimum PC specification is 2GHz processor and 4GB RAM. (2.8 & 8GB for 4K editing) it would not run. There is a mobile version but I have not tried the full version and the free one does not do enough.SOI installed it on an i7-4510U @ 2GHz, 8GB RAM with an AMD Radeon R7 M260 Windows 10 laptop. This does not quite meet the specification for 4K editing, it did do it but very very slowly.During the install there is an option to also install a “PC clean-up” programme, this works but is very basic and if you want to do anything useful you are asked to buy the paid version. It is very simple to use, not full of menus in fact almost everything is on the main screen. I only wanted to join clips and put titles on and perhaps trim or remove bits of clips. This was easy to do as was putting transitions in of various types. There are also numerous templates that you can use to give different effects to your videos. There is limited adjustment of the videos, some stabilization and camera corrections plus colour etc but again these are very basic.I was impressed by the number of cameras it took inputs from including a “flip” which is usually quite temperamental.Selecting output format and quality was easy and it allowed formatting for social media etc. HOWEVER making the video when finished was incredibly slow, I have much more comprehensive video editing programmes which are much faster for this.It certainly does all I wanted it to do but there were two things I did not like.1/ When the video is saved and played back it on the first frame displays the video file name, I could find no way of removing this.2/ It is too much to expect for the price but as the audio is not editable (except for volume which can be changed on individual clips and the addition of a music track if you wish) I found when it was a video with commentary if I took out clips it also of course took chunks out the audio which made the Commentary quite difficult to understand.IN SUMMARYI very useful but basic video editing package.

Brilliant software for people more into recording action than producing videos
The media could not be loaded. I’ve had a sports-cam for a while and the raw footage was cluttering up my PC. Though it was great to be able to record a cycle ride or an adventure, I found that after viewing the initial playback I never watched the videos again. My PC was becoming cluttered with loads of raw video that I wanted to keep, but never watched.I’m not really into editing video but saw this software on special offer and thought I’d give it a go. I’m really glad that I did. It’s specially tuned for use with video from action cams, but works equally well with video from a standard camera and lets you get great results with hardly any effort at all.The attached video was my very first attempt and was produced totally automatically without any tweaks from me.Whilst the software has lots of manual controls the fantastic thing about it is that with no real video experience and very little time you can create something worth watching and worth sharing totally automatically. If you want to tweak it you then can, but the automatic results are so impressive that at the moment I’m happy to leave things as they are and concentrate on doing things to record with the sports-cam, rather than sitting at a PC editing video. In a nutshell the automatic process comprises these steps.• Load a number of clips into Fastcut.• Select a Template (This sets the style for the video you’re creating – the background music, type of cuts between scenes etc). See the list of templates below.• Finish the Movie and select output type. There are three output routes:- • Save on computer • Export to a mobile device • Upload to InternetAt the most automatic level it’s incredibly easy to create a movie that contains only a portion of the clips, so you’re not sitting through hours of playback, but captures the excitement in a way that you’d be happy to share with others, even those not into the subject you’ve filmed. There’s a full manual mode where you provide your own music, select the cuts, transitions and durations, add titles etc., etc.In the automatic mode, many of these features can be used to tweak your movie if you wish, so you can add titles, make sure a particular section is included, change the order etc.The templates provided are• Aurelia – epic movie trailer atmosphere with loads of suspense.• Beryll – Dynamic propelling music and vibrant cuts• Bipolar Triangular – Documentary style with positive, emotional music.• Breakout – Documentary style with a few subtle cuts.• Bright Future – Lively style for tense scenes• Butterfly Effect – Dramatic music and captivating transitions• Dark-N-Slow – Rhythmic cuts, ideal for slow-motion shots.• Distorted Reality – Driving action-packed movie trailer atmosphere• Erotomania – Exciting competition feel for complete action• Flying Lotus – Animated cuts and flowing music• Freedom – Few cuts and quiet harmonious music• Project 360 – Summery, fresh look and upbeat music• Swingorama – Playful, cheerful mood and offbeat cuts• The Contest – ideal for dramatic and tense footage• Way Up – Exhilarating cuts and music for action shots. There are a host of different formats for saving your finished work to different devices, PC, Mobile devices or the internet and at a variety of standards up to Full HD, if the source material is appropriate. If you’re into video editing then there’s probably software that has more features than this, but if you’re into using your sports-cam and want an easy way to turn your hours of footage into something you can watch and share, this software is great. As I said above, the attached video literally took 30 minutes to create, and that included me finding my way around the software for the first time. I used six clips of trying out a new quad-copter. The filming was far from brilliant, but the end result makes it look great. By the way I used the ‘Butterfly Effect’ template for this video
